Reading Frenzy ~ An Independent Press Emporium

August 08, 2008: Indie media activist Jen Angel, will lead a workshop and discussion based her recently published pamphlet Becoming the Media: a Critical History of Clamor Magazine (PM Press, 2008). Jen will talk about her experiences in running a national magazine as well as the current state of independent media.

Clamor Magazine was published from 2000 to 2006, and covered radical politics, culture, and activism. In their 38 issues they featured over 1,000 writers and artists. Angel's analysis in Becoming the Media is presented as a case study on how movement projects and organizations deal with vital but rarely discussed issues such as management, sustainability, ownership, structure, finance, decision making, power, diversity, and vision.
