New Magazine: Prism Index, Now Here!

For those of you brave enough to bare the cold this past Sunday to see the launch of a brand new magazine, Prism Index, we commend you! For those who missed the opening, fear not! Reading Frenzy is now carrying the first issue boasting over 50 artists. A true multi-media collaboration the handmade book is straight up brimming with art, comics, short fiction, non-fiction, interviews, you name it; and includes a dvd and cd!

Stumptown Comics Fest Announced!

The next Stumptown Comics Fest has been announced! The shindig will go down on April 24th and 25th for a full weekend of parties, panels and workshops. Begun in 2004, the Stumptown Comic folks have been successfully shifting the focus from dealers and publishers to the artists themselves. Poster Art Call for next Zine Symposium!

The Portland Zine Symposium will be holding it's 10th annual conference this coming July and is looking for art submissions. The event has served, for nearly a decade, as a platform for DIY culture to converge, sharing ideas and work.

As for the promotional poster, they encourage you to explore any medium, and only ask that you keep the color scheme down to black, white and a color of your picking. If chosen, your work will not only appear on posters, but t-shirts, buttons, and stickers! Submission deadline is March 15th and the theme is "Zine Arcade", go!

Mia Nolting Opening at the IPRC, Feb. 4th

February's First Thursday is fast-approaching, and our wonderful upstairs neighbors, the IPRC, is hosting an art opening of Mia Nolting's work! Known for her stark, heart-felt lists, and graceful illustrations, Nolting's work has recently appeared in the New York Times Magazine and in a Penguin Books animated trailer.

Portland Stock's January Dinner, Jan. 24th

For a mere $10 bucks, you can attend Portland Stock's monthly dinner on the 24th. The event includes a presentation series of artist proposals, where the proceeds directly become an artist's grant. Portland Stock's website highlights what you can look forward to; including, a delicious meal, presentations by November Stock grant winners, as well as special guest, and July grant winner, Dafna Margalit.
