Next Wednesday clear your calendar! A smorgasbord of events, including cabaret, short film screenings, and even a VooDoo Doughnut Eating Contest will ensue over at Someday Lounge. There will also be readings and music galore, all in support of Nora Robertson's experimental film based on her 2007 Pushcart Prize winning recipe poem, "How to Boil an Egg". Basing expectations on the synapsis (see below!), the evening and film look well worth your time and gracious donations.
"Cooking show host Nora Robertson sets out to demonstrate the simplest of dishes, the hard-boiled egg, but the lesson soon goes awry as surreal interludes of virgin sacrifices to a Ghanaian snake god, a 60's Hollywood dinner party and a deviled egg recipe intrude."

Each second Thursday the Portland Art Museum invites a local artist to discuss a work from their permanent collection. This month, filmmaker Matt McCormick tackles two gelatin silver prints taken by renown photographer Erwin Eliot.
Matt McCormick has, for years, quietly documented everything from midwestern landscapes to the industrial sprawl of Portland to Nutria documentaries and Shins music videos. Of Eliot's work McCormick says he's "always been drawn to photo-journalistic style work, and its ability to create these fascinating visual time capsules."
All talks depart at 6 p.m. from the Hoffman Lobby and are followed by a lively happy hour with the artist until 8 p.m. that includes complimentary food, beer, and wine.
Its that time of year for Disjecta's Art Auction! In it's 4th year, the auction is a rowdy and well-attended exhibition of over 50 of the best artists in Portland. The offices of the IPRC have been working 'round the clock to make the Ball memorable... which shouldn't be too hard considering this year's racy theme: TEXT APPEAL.
